The present dissertation objective is the accomplishment of impact tests by free fall, in three prototypes of an artistic gymnastics floor. A bibliographic review was conducted, focusing on materials and technologies used for development of sports equipment. and influence, and these resources on the performance and safety of its users. The first constructive solution that was tested, served as the basis for comparisons with the other samples tested and for the application of the physical models. The 2nd and 3rd series of tests were conducted to study the influence of the rigidity and flexibility of the global system on the performance of the gymnastics floor. A set of programs were developed to help the process of analysis of experimental data. Two methods were used to calculate the maximum impact force through the displacement data measured by the encoder, one of which is an application of Newton's 2nd law, and the other, an application of the Energy-Work theorem. The three tested prototypes revealed a deflection superior to the one allowed by the FIG: IV-MAG1-01.01.2016 norm
Material model assessment in Ti6Al4V machining simulations with FEM
Ti6Al4V alloy is a well-known difficult-to-cut material used in different industrial applications, to
achieve the expected component quality, proper definition and control of the machining process
parameters must be accomplished. To address this problem, simulations with finite element method
(FEM) seem to be an interesting engineering tool to model and optimize machining processes.
Nevertheless, the model capability in capturing the behaviour observed in real machining processes is
associated with the definition of the model and parameters that describe the workpiece flow stress. This
contribution aimed to study the performance of built-in AdvantEdge-2DTMmaterial laws applied in Ti6Al4V
orthogonal cutting simulations under dry conditions. The numerical models were created under three
levels of cutting speed, a constant feed rate and depth-of-cut, a variable tool rake angle (of 20° and -6°/0
°), but also using four Ti6Al4V constitutive laws, namely, one suggested in AdvantEdgeTM library, a Johnson-
Cook (JC) model, a Power law (PL) and a PL coupled with ductile damage model. Experimental results were
used to assess the numerical models’ accuracy in predicting the machining forces and metal chips.
Satisfactory results regarding the machining forces prediction were achieved with all material laws, yet
when the damage criterion was coupled with the constitutive laws (PLD and AE standard material law),
the simulations were also were able to achieve the expected chip morphology (serrated metal chips).

Intelligent machining methods for Ti6Al4V: a review
Digital manufacturing is a necessity to establishing a roadmap for the future manufacturing systems
projected for the fourth industrial revolution. Intelligent features such as behavior prediction, decision-
making abilities, and failure detection can be integrated into machining systems with computational
methods and intelligent algorithms. This review reports on techniques for Ti6Al4V machining process
modeling, among them numerical modeling with finite element method (FEM) and artificial intelligence-
based models using artificial neural networks (ANN) and fuzzy logic (FL). These methods are
intrinsically intelligent due to their ability to predict machining response variables. In the context of this
review, digital image processing (DIP) emerges as a technique to analyze and quantify the machining
response (digitization) in the real machining process, often used to validate and (or) introduce data in
the modeling techniques enumerated above. The widespread use of these techniques in the future will
be crucial for the development of the forthcoming machining systems as they provide data about the
machining process, allow its interpretation and quantification in terms of useful information for process
modelling and optimization, which will create machining systems less dependent on direct human
intervention.publishe
ANÁLISE DO ENSINO DA PRODUÇÃO ESCRITA DO ARTIGO DE OPINIÃO NO LIVRO DIDÁTICO DE LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA 9º ANO
Impact of a novel sugarcane straw extract-based ingredient on skin microbiota via a new preclinical in vitro model
During cosmetic product development, the impact on the skin microbiota needs to be evaluated, as it plays an important role in skin health. Clinical studies are frequently used to assess cosmetic effects, but are expensive, time-consuming and require finished ingredients, which may be a limiting factor. Thus, this study had two main objectives, the development of a preclinical in vitro model for the evaluation of the effect of cosmetic ingredients on the skin microbiota, and its use to evaluate a novel sugarcane straw extract-based ingredient. In the development of the preclinical in vitro model, the microbiota incubation time and atmospheric conditions were optimized. The model was validated using a benchmark ingredient with reported in vivo effects on skin microbiota. Then, the new sugarcane straw extract-based ingredient was tested in the model, using skin microbiota samples from 12 healthy female volunteers. The impact on microbial groups was analyzed using qPCR and next-generation sequencing. The best conditions for the in vitro model were 24 h incubation under aerobic conditions. Furthermore, the results obtained with the benchmark ingredient agreed with those obtained in vivo, thus validating our model. Sugarcane straw extract-based ingredient was found to have no effect on community α-diversity, however it appears to affect S. epidermidis. In conclusion, the developed model can be used as a tool to assess the impact of novel cosmetic ingredients on skin microbiota. Also, the novel ingredient seems to have an impact on commensal S. epidermidis.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
_______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTTaxonomical and phylogenetical studies have used anatomical information. In order to contribute to these studies, paradermal and cross sections of the median leaf blade portion of Campomanesia adamantium (Camb.) O. Berg, Myrcia cordiifolia DC., M. decrescens O. Berg and M. torta D.C. were examined. The anatomical characters were compared to the other species described in the literature. Some characteristics were irrespective of the four examined species: unistratified epidermis, unicellular trichomes, hypostomatic leaves, paracytic stomata, oil glands on both sides, dorsiventral mesophyll and bicollateral bundles on the midrib. The following characters appear to be taxonomically useful in the family: epidermal common cell format, presence of dibrachiate trichomes, presence of colorless subepidermal cell layers and midrib shape. The morphology and number of overlying cells associated with the glands have taxonomic utility. The 144 exsicates examination showed that the glabrescence is a widespread phenomenon in the Myrtaceae. The trichome fall can be due to its narrow base and to the foot cell absence. The characters were analyzed in the light of recent phylogenetic studies, highlighting the hypothesis related to the presence of epidermal cells with possible transfer cell function. The anatomical features provided data for wider comparative analysis amongst Myrtaceae taxa and ensured the construction of a cladogram, where Leptospermum and Eucalyptus species occupied the basal position, in line with reported phylogenies
Effect of the “spiritual support” intervention on spirituality and the clinical parameters of women who have undergone mastectomy: a pilot study
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the spiritual support intervention on spirituality and the clinical parameters of women who have undergone mastectomy. This is a pilot study of a randomized clinical trial. The spiritual support intervention was composed of meditation, guided imagery, music, and respiratory relaxation. The outcomes were: spirituality, blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation. A total of 27 patients were recruited for the study (intervention group, n = 13; control group, n = 14) (Clinical Trials: NCT 01866670/CAE: 00896312.0.0000.5393). The intervention helped patients with breast cancer to increase expression of their spirituality (p = 0.040) and it also decreased heart rate on the first (p = 0.038) and third day (p = 0.017). There was a difference in oxygen saturation on the second day in the control group (p = 0.039). Patients reported that their participation in the research was positive. This intervention had an effect on the sample of women who had undergone mastectomy
